How do you know my starting meter read?

Your metering company provides us with an actual or estimated read within days of us requesting to transfer you.

When you apply to transfer retailer we advise your existing retailer that we are taking over your account, and your local metering company provides us both with a meter read so that both retailers can invoice you without overlapping reads.

If you have a smart meter this will be done using an actual read. If you have a basic meter this may be done using an estimated read (so that you don't have to wait up to 90 days for a meter reader to visit).
